In my isolated existence I have never had the chance to ride in a golf cart. It was always one of those things that I thought would be cool. I got the chance today, not only to ride in one - but to drive it!
My place of employment held a golf tournament today and I volunteered to help out. Originally it was just to help get them set up in the morning, but I realized it was way more fun to hang out at the golf course than sit in my office all day.
My pal JVL hooked me up with some top notch driving lessons - thanks Justin! (Here is my opportunity to give him props - check out his website picture bloggy thing http://jvl.stasis.org/pixelpost).
Yet another of the thing crossed off on my 'things to do in life' list. Creating world peace, going to Paris - those can wait. I get to drive a golf cart - get out of my way dammit!!!
As sad as it is that I get so excited about these seemingly simple things - I think that is what makes life fun. The ability to 'find the joy in everyday things' - although very hokey, does ring true. In my day to day life, I find it very easy to get bogged down by the everyday annoyances, and I think it is important to get excited about these 'simple' things. Taking time to appreciate them, and have some fun. I know that I need to focus more on those moments, so that the other mundane, crappy annoying ones don't get so big.
Unfortunately I don't have a picture of me and the golf cart...here is another 'simple' thing that makes me laugh - the little animals they make out of towels and stuff in hotels and resorts (this one was from my trip to Mexico). I took the liberty of adding the tiny sombrero that I bought, it seemed to fit him well. I think I need to learn how to make those...
