Well, it's early in the morning, and what else is there to do except start a blog. Aren't all the cool kids doing it? I am definitely not cool, or a kid...
I have recently started taking a creative writing class. I am trying to get used to a couple of things - first, the whole process of writing. In my head, I am a brilliant writer (as I am sure many of us are), and the actual process of putting 'creative' thoughts on paper is a bit new to me. I have written in a diary for years. There is safety in knowing that your thoughts and rantings are secret, and aren't for public consumption. The idea of creating something and sharing it with others, very scary. So the second thing I need to get used to is the sharing of my creations. Believing that what I have to say is interesting enough to share with others. That's where this blog comes in. It's a somewhat anonymous way publishing my creative side. There are no rules - I get to write what I want, when I want - but with the added accountability that others may (or may not) read it.
Anyway, enough about that.
Since I can talk about whatever I want, let's talk Harry Potter. Yeah, I know it's all over the news. I am so excited about this book. I will admit, I did stand in line at midnight on Saturday morning (which started out as 11:00 pm Friday night) to be one of the first to get the book (see my pic above). Well, actually at the store I was at, one of the first 1500. I didn't do that for any of the other books in the series, but this one is special - it's the last one. Or at least according to Ms Rowling. It could be that this will be like many other lasts - like the final 'Who' concerts - how many times have they had their final tour?
At this point I have read 150 or so pages. I have been busy and haven't had a chance to read too much. All I can say is, it is going to be very interesting. I am not going to ruin it for anyone by letting the 'cat out of the bag' at any point. I am going to do my best to not hear anything about the ending so I will be surprised. But part of me is like a kid at Christmas, wanting to peek at the presents. I do want to know now!!! I am tempted to look at the websites, or turn to the last pages to see if Harry's name is mentioned. I will try to be strong and savour the experience, after all it is the last one.
Along with trying to catch up on some sleep today (these 1:00 am bedtimes are killing me, I am used to going to be at 10 - I told you, I am not a kid) - I am going to the Police concert tonight. Very excited about that!!! I am trying to keep expectations low - but it's the Police!!! And I am going tomorrow night too. Why am I going two nights in a row - I am not sure how that happened. I think I got caught up in the hype. My husband is a huge Police fan, Stewart Copeland in particular. I am a Sting fan myself. (Any Andy Summers fans out there??)
Yeah, I know - Harry Potter and two Police concerts, definitely not cool.
Have a great day everyone!
