Went to Ottawa this weekend. Had a good time. My reason for going was to see the Renoir exhibit at the National Gallery. It was good - big fan of the impressionists. We went through some of the other exhibits. My 'favourite' is the contemporary art. That is some strange stuff. I guess I need to be more open minded about it - but I just can't 'get' it. This time there was a painted rope (large rope painted a rusty red colour) that was strewn about the floor - kind of in a snake-like pattern. Don't get it. Maybe there isn't anything to 'get'. Not sure I understand how it is art. This was beside the stacked stone tiles - mabye 200 of them stacked up into a 6 feet or so tower. Anyway...
Then we went on a tour of the Mint. Interesting. My favourite part was the coins with the faces cut out where you could take pictures. I love those things!!!
Had some good food, tasty drinks. Overall a lovely weekend.
